Authentic Acupuncture is now offering 15 minute telehealth consults for those who wish to access the benefits of a tailored Chinese Herbal Medicine program to aid their wellness journey.
Following the consult, your experienced practitioner, Brendan, will prepare an individually tailored herbal medicine prescription appropriate for your health concern and ‘constitution’ with suggestions for additional vitamins and minerals that may further assist your dietary or other needs.
How do telehealth Chinese herbal medicine consults work?
Pre Consult: After you’ve booked and paid for your Chinese herbal medicine consult, you’ll answer a series of questions via a secure form that you’ll need to complete ,at least a day prior to your appointment. We will also ask you to send us a clear photo of your tongue prior to your consult. See what’s required here.
During your consult: During your consult (generally held via Google Meet), we’ll discuss your medical history, the symptoms you’ve mentioned on your pre-consultation form and any other concerns you might have. We’ll also discuss your sleep, energy levels, digestive issues, mood, your lifestyle and current diet and how Chinese herbal medicine can help.
PostConsult: You’ll receive a range of supplementation (herbs/teas and/or vitamins/minerals) dosed appropriately for your needs. Our store for restocking herbs, teas and other supplements, etc is coming soon.

Is there a Private Health rebate that covers Chinese Herbal Medicine consults?
There are HICAPS item numbers to claim for Chinese Herbal Medicine Consultations.
- 303 for an initial consultation
- 403 for a Standard Consultation
- 503 for Medicaments (supplementation such as herbs, vitamins and minerals)
However, few funds offer rebates for these treatments. You’ll want to check with your fund if the ability to offset costs are important for you.
What is the cost of a telehealth Chinese herbal medicine consult?
At Authentic Acupuncture, we believe everyone should have access to quality healthcare. So we’ve kept the cost of each Chinese Herbal Medicine consult to a minimum. Each consult is just $30.
Prescribed herbs, vitamins and minerals are available for an extra charge.
How long do these Chinese Herbal Medicine Consultations run?
15 minutes. Your practitioner will also allow time prior to your consult to review your medical history, blood tests and other medical reports you have uploaded/provided along with tongue imaging.
Are your herbs, vitamins and minerals approved by the TGA?
Yes. All herbs, vitamins and minerals suggested for you by our experienced Chinese medicine practitioner are approved by the TGA. Specific dosages will be personalised to your needs.
How much are the herbs, etc?
Your initial round of supplementation is included within the cost of your initial Chinese herbal medicine consult.
Each follow-on pack of 4 to 6 weeks worth of prescribed herbs (depending on your needs/dosage required) will cost $105.
Express postage is $15.
How long will it take for me to receive my herbs?
Authentic Acupuncture uses Australia Post Express Post, so delivery to most major capital cities takes 1-2 days. However, it can take longer for regional and remote areas.
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Your recovery is an extremely personal journey and just like there’s no ‘average’ patient, no two Chinese Herbal Medicine journeys are ever the same. Whilst treatment begins as soon as you start making dietary changes (including taking prescribed herbs, etc) and you may start to feel better in as little as a couple of weeks, your real recovery may often take several months. After all, your health issue likely took months, if not several years, to get to where it currently is.
